Join us for an inspiring session of Today’s Global Leader with Bonita Grupp, managing partner of Trigema. In this engaging talk, Grupp will share her journey through the generational transition of one of Germany’s leading family-owned businesses, discussing how she developed her unique leadership style. 

The conversation will highlight the opportunities and challenges facing Germany’s Mittelstand, focusing on Trigema’s commitment to sustainability, independence in its supply chain, and strategies for attracting skilled workers. Grupp will also discuss how the company integrates a diverse workforce of over 40 nationalities while maintaining a “made in Germany” ethos. 

Bianca Schmitz, member of the ESMT Berlin faculty and expert for medium-sized companies, will set the stage with opening remarks on doing business in Germany. Moderated by journalist Astrid Frohloff, the session will explore Grupp’s political engagement, her motivations, and the role family businesses play in fostering regional stability and social responsibility.

Speakers 

Bonita Grupp is managing partner of Trigema since January 2024. Before this role, she led the company’s e-commerce and HR departments for more than five years and previously served as e-commerce and social media manager. She holds a BSc in business management from King’s College London and an MSc in economic history from the London School of Economics.  

Bianca Schmitz is a lecturer at ESMT and a founding director of the Hidden Champions Institute (HCI). She also serves as director of knowledge transfer at the Bringing Technology to Market (BTM) Center. Since March 2022, she has been a member of the supervisory board of TÜV NORD AG. Her expertise lies in leadership and innovation, with a focus on mid-sized global market leaders.  

Moderator 

Astrid Frohloff is a TV and conference moderator, journalist, and business coach. She studied political science, literature, and journalism. After working in Hamburg, Hanover, Austin (USA), and Jerusalem (Israel), she now lives in Berlin.
