The exclusive discussion series “Cromme meets . . .” continues on October 25 at 6 p.m. CEST. At this in-person event, Dr. Gerhard Cromme will be speaking with Christian Miele, chair of the German Startups Association and partner at Headline, a venture capital firm investing globally in startups such as Blinkist, bumble, and gopuff. They will discuss entrepreneurship, the startup scene in Europe and Germany, what it takes to build a successful company from the ground up, as well as Christian’s individual leadership and investment philosophies.  

About the speakers 
Dr. Gerhard Cromme is one of Germany’s most successful and well-connected top managers and the first supervisory board chair of ESMT Berlin. After an impressive career as CEO and supervisory board chair of large multinational corporates, he is now a sought-after advisor and investor in the startup scene. Dr. Cromme currently chairs the supervisory board of German tech unicorn AUTO1 Group. Among others, he is also chair of the advisory boards of real estate group Aroundtown SA and of Berlin-based venture capital firm Target Global. Dr. Cromme studied law at Münster University and Lausanne University and economics at the Sorbonne and at Harvard University (PMD). He earned a doctorate degree in law at Münster University. 


Christian Miele is a partner at global VC fund Headline (former e.ventures). He currently oversees Headline’s investments in Sorare, Leapwork, PlanRadar, numa, and Kenbi. Christian holds a master’s degree from INSEAD and is chairperson of the German Startup Association. He is frequently quoted as an expert on entrepreneurship and venture capital by international media outlets such as Wallstreet Journal, Bloomberg, and Handelsblatt, Germany's #1 business newspaper. Christian also airs as a startup expert on national news channel n-tv. He has twice been named one of Germany’s “40 under 40” by the financial magazine Capital.

In the series “Cromme meets . . .” Dr. Gerhard Cromme, one of Germany’s most successful and well-connected top managers and the first supervisory board chair of ESMT Berlin, invites distinguished guests to discuss international business, strategy, and leadership in this exclusive series. Once known as “Mister Deutschland AG” and today a sought-after advisor and investor in the startup scene, Dr. Cromme welcomes guests from both worlds for exciting discussions and a lively exchange. In an exclusive setting, ESMT students and alumni can ask direct questions and expect honest answers from Dr. Cromme and his guests.


The event will take place on campus and in person in Auditorium 1, ESMT Berlin, Schlossplatz 1, 10178 Berlin | Registration begins at 5:30 p.m., the event will be held from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. and will be followed by a get-together with pretzels and drinks.

When attending this event, I consent to carry a negative COVID-19 antigen test (“Bürgertest”) or proof of vaccination or recovery.
