It is our pleasure to invite you to the latest session of our Today’s Global Leader series at ESMT Berlin, featuring Christian Sewing, CEO of Deutsche Bank AG. Sewing will share insights on navigating Deutsche Bank, Germany’s largest bank, through significant industry transformations, emphasizing digital trends that redefine competitive edges, and outlining his leadership approach in a moderated discussion with journalist Astrid Frohloff. Jörg Rocholl, ESMT president and Deutsche Bank professor in sustainable finance, will set the stage with opening remarks on the role of Germany as a finance and banking center.

Speakers
Christian Sewing is CEO of Deutsche Bank AG. He has been a member of the management board since January 1, 2015, and CEO since April 2018. On May 1, 2021, he took on additional responsibilities for human resources. Before that, he was also responsible for the corporate bank and the investment bank.
Sewing joined Deutsche Bank in 1989 and has held various leadership roles, including head of group audit, deputy chief risk officer, and chief credit officer. He led Deutsche Bank’s Private & Commercial Bank from July 2015 to April 2018. He has worked across multiple global financial hubs, including Frankfurt, London, Singapore, Tokyo, and Toronto. Before graduating with a diploma from the Bankakademie Bielefeld and Hamburg, Sewing completed a bank apprenticeship at Deutsche Bank in 1989.
Jörg Rocholl is president of ESMT Berlin and Deutsche Bank professor in sustainable finance. He is chair of the advisory board of the German Federal Ministry of Finance and chair of the steering committee of the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM). He is also a member of the board of the Schmalenbach Society, a member of acatech (German Academy of Science and Engineering), a research fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), and a research member of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI).
Moderator
Astrid Frohloff is a TV and conference moderator, journalist, and business coach. She studied political science, literature, and journalism. After working in Hamburg, Hanover, Austin (USA), and Jerusalem (Israel), she now lives in Berlin.
